Former executives from Amazon, Verily and IDEO join Biobot to help scale rapidly growing business, realize broad potential of wastewater epidemiology

Cambridge, Mass. – Feb 28, 2023 – Biobot Analytics, a global leader in wastewater epidemiology, today announced the expansion of its executive and growth teams with the hiring of several new senior-level employees, including its first-ever Chief Revenue Officer and two VP-level appointments to lead product and marketing teams. These recent hires come at a significant moment for Biobot, as the company prepares for its next phase of growth and the continued evolution of wastewater intelligence.

“Biobot’s mission is to transform wastewater infrastructure into public health observatories. The pandemic has brought wastewater intelligence into the forefront of public health initiatives and we’re looking forward to expanding to new applications and regions in order to protect communities,” said Dr. Mariana Matus, CEO & Cofounder of Biobot Analytics. “These new team members are critical to keeping Biobot on pace with the market demand as we chart a new path forward for public health.”

As the company prepares to broaden the impact of wastewater intelligence for new markets, applications, and industries, Biobot has appointed Joe Dillon as Biobot’s first Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Dillon joins Dr. Matus, Newsha Ghaeli (President & Cofounder), and seasoned AI executive and former FBI agent Andy Zeilman, who joined as Chief Operating Officer in June 2022, on Biobot’s executive team.

In his role as CRO, Dillon will oversee all aspects of the company’s sales and customer experience. Dillon was previously Head of Sales for Emerging Applications at Amazon Web Services, and Vice President of Sales at DocuSign where he drove international sales. He has over 25 years of experience supporting complex customer and partner growth opportunities through sales, strategy, business development and product management roles at established and emerging technology leaders. Dillon started his career as an officer in the US Army assigned to high impact leadership roles across 10 years of global deployments.

“Biobot’s service and product portfolio protects communities and fosters health equity by increasing the accessibility and accuracy of anonymous public health data; this aligns with my own values of transparency, fairness, and community commitment,” said Dillon. “As CRO, I will continue building this company to drive value for Biobot’s customers and partners.”

To further support Biobot’s expansion to new markets both in the United States and internationally, Carl Woodham and Steve Dirks, based in Atlanta and Vancouver, respectively, have also joined the Biobot sales team as Strategic Account Directors. The pair join to accelerate growth with state and local government agencies across the United States and Canada.

In addition to expanding into new regions and markets, Biobot is prioritizing expanding its product pipeline to create a holistic, multi-pathogen and chemical biomarkers public health platform. Venkat Jaganathan has joined Biobot as Vice President of Product, where he will lead Biobot’s product development and management, and guide Biobot’s product vision and roadmap. Venkat was formerly Head of Product for Digital Health at Alphabet’s Verily and has a proven track record of building high-performing teams in startups and Fortune 1000 companies across corporate and divisional leadership roles. His experience launching and growing products through organic development, acquisitions and partnerships will be leveraged to expand Biobot’s partnerships and customer base as it seeks to grow its product pipeline.

Alongside the continued expansion of Biobot’s platform, wastewater intelligence must continue to be in the national spotlight as it solidifies itself as a pillar of public health infrastructure. To achieve this, Jessica Randazza-Pade has joined Biobot as Vice President of Marketing, where she will lead marketing and communications strategy and be responsible for building and enhancing recognition of the company’s brand and services. Randazza-Pade was previously Head of Cloud Studio for global design company IDEO, and is an award-winning global digital marketer, business leader, and storyteller. Her involvement in the global startup community and experience advising marketing communications and strategy for companies in several industries will be an asset to amplifying Biobot’s mission and reputation as a global leader in wastewater intelligence.

The expansion of Biobot’s C-Suite, as well as its sales, product and marketing teams, are critical to supporting the company’s rapid growth. The collective experience of these new team members will be instrumental in helping Biobot achieve its mission and ambitious plans for 2023 and beyond.
