Track Respiratory Viruses in Your Community

Wave Image

Wastewater intelligence data can help inform your public health strategy for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV. Let’s prevent the next “tripledemic”.

Evidence-based data is the backbone of building strategic community health programs. Without it, communities can’t plan intervention and communication plans – and can’t evaluate the impact of their work. SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A and B, and RSV are respiratory viruses that have a truly staggering impact in the United States. Knowing how these viruses are circulating in your city, in your facility, or in your school is the foundation of preparedness.

Biobot is a leader in wastewater monitoring for respiratory viruses. We use highly sensitive PCR methods to identify and quantify genetic material from these viruses in wastewater samples, and provide reporting and interpretation of distinct effective concentrations in wastewater for each virus.

Respiratory Infectious Diseases We Monitor

Biobot is the leading platform for tracking SARS-CoV-2, which is shed in excreta. By analyzing sewage, we can determine the presence of infected individuals at a facility and community level.

Influenza A and B cause an estimated $5.8 billion in economic losses annually. Via wastewater monitoring, Biobot can ensure business continuity and build mitigation measures.

The 2022 RSV season had a higher rate of infection and earlier peak than expected. Wastewater data can provide an early warning for RSV activity, empowering communities to respond quickly.

Our Work

In the fall of 2020, Rollins College grappled with an all too familiar but important question: how to safely reopen campus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rollins partnered with Biobot Analytics to collect and analyze wastewater samples from across the college. The data results allowed Rollins administrators to track the virus’s spread on campus and take targeted mitigation measures across campus and residence halls. This prevented the spread of the virus to other students and staff, and as a result, Rollins kept infection numbers low on campus.

Why Biobot?

Biobot is a leading provider of wastewater intelligence. We use highly sensitive PCR methods to identify and quantify genetic material from respiratory viruses in wastewater samples, and provide reporting and interpretation of distinct effective concentrations in wastewater for each virus.

Early Warning Icon
Early Warning

Detects an increase or change in the community before other monitoring systems. This early warning system can empower public health officials to respond quickly to mitigate outbreaks.

Cost Effective

Can provide a picture of the burden of disease for a fraction of the time and cost of mass individual testing and case reporting.

People Icon
Comprehensive Coverage

Get a comprehensive picture of respiratory illness prevalence, including asymptomatic and misdiagnosed cases, which are not captured by traditional surveillance methods.

Test Icon
Flexible

Pivot to track the emergence and spread of newly identified infectious illnesses, or diseases that are beginning to spread in areas where they were not previously circulating.

Charts Icon
Equitable

Serves anyone who uses a bathroom. Not reliant on individual’s access to or use of healthcare, providing a holistic and inclusive view of epidemiological disease trends.
